Here is a not so new sketch I have made. His name is Milek and he is an original character from my graphic novel DeadFingers. I promised to color it last month but I never got around to doing so. I am really quite pleased with how this sketch turned out and would like to get to coloring it sometime in the near future.

Okay, now let me explain in full detail why I have been absent as of late. I have recently been testing Final Fantasy 14 in closed beta and now, I am just anticipating the release of the game, which will be later this month. I have no idea how I will find the time to play it as well as update this blog more often, but I suppose I will find a way!

I’ve said this before and I will say it again. 24 hours is just not enough time in a single day. Through drawing things for fun, working on illustrations, writing my comic and leisure, I don’t have enough time to do it all. It’s really frustrating. And I know it only takes about 20 minutes to write a blog post on I 365 Art, but I guess I just need to be more disciplined about updating the blog I suppose.

Anyway, I hope you all like this sketch, maybe sometime this week I will have the in color version up soon! Chao!

Remember the headhunter character I sketched a while back? Here she is again, except she’s in color today. I dug this up from the July posts and decided to finish it up today. It has no background for right now, as I can’t really think of what to put. :s I did make sure that I included bright and vibrant colors as well as bold greens for the leaves. I was debating on what color I should make her head dress. It was red in the beginning and then I turned it blue in the end. I didn’t want it to look too much like hair either (her hair is under the headdress xD!)

I drew in some leaves in here hair plus her outfit is made of leaves and shrubs as well. I’m not too sure what the cotton ball-like things on the sides of her face are xD. I thought it would look interesting :3. I’m gonna try to color this by tonight hopefully ^^. This seems like it would be a lot of fun to color and i’m anxious to get started on it!

This entire picture probably took about an hour or so to make. But since I didn’t work on it non stop, it took a day and a half to post the finished version up to the blog. I had to put this off some in order to take care of more important things (ie gigs and household chores). Nonetheless though, I kinda like how this turned out :3.

I wanted the character to look like she was really out in the wild or in a rain forest. I felt that the purple skies was a nice contrast with the olive green bush.

If you don’t know already, this is based off of the character from the Black Swan film. I really like her tutu and the dark make up Natalie Portman’s character wears in the film! It kind of makes me want to recreate the costume someday when I have some time :3.

I was too pooped to finish this after coming home from the casino last night. We didn’t win a spectacular amount of money but we did win a few hundred extra dollars :3. I am planning to put some of it toward the trip to San Jose next weekend. I see it as money that I didn’t have before :3.

I’ll have more time to finish this up later today. I’m pretty pleased with the progress so far ^^.

Anyway, I have been finding myself having to have to draw a lot of anime lately. I don’t normally draw anime characters often. I usually like to blend anime with western style in my art work  :3. Kinda like how the Final Fantasy characters are drawn. Today, I decided to draw just straight anime! I don’t think I’m that good at drawing just straight anime characters but practice makes improvement I suppose.

I had to draw an anime character for a customer a few days ago which was fun. I also drew another anime character for part of my boyfriend’s final project. I’m normally not accustomed to drawing anime that often but I’ll do it if I have to. My anime characters may have a bit of a ‘Western twang’ to them though :p.

Now that i’m back in to the swing of my busy life, I have a ton of catching up to do on this blog xD. Bummer! Thankfully, my UTI is pretty much gone ^^! I’ll have to not drink so much soda for a while x.x.

In today’s drawing, I used two really cool filters to make the lines appear more sharper. The first one I used was Poster Edges and after that I used another one called Cutout. Sure, these two filters are really simple but it’s pretty amazing what they can do when combined! I miss doing the cartoony thing and I am more than likely gonna go back to it after learning this.

On a side note, it is pouring outside! There is literally lightning strong enough to sound peoples’ car alarms and shake my house! I was laying in bed this morning and was awoken by a huge thunder bolt. I was worried that the house would get struck with lightning it was so loud. After that, I ended up going back to sleep and having a really strange dream. I could still hear the thunder in my sleep, except I was interpreting it as constant knocking on the door. Very weird xD.

This drawing is actually a remake of a character I made for one of my comics 5 or 6 years ago. Her appearance hasn’t changed much except for the fact that I can draw a lot better now xD.

I also just wanted to talk about sketch books today xD! Hehehe. Speaking of which, I was hospitalized yesterday due to a sinus infection. While I was on the hospital bed waiting to be assisted, I busted out my sketch book and doodled away.

As you may already know, I don’t like to waste time xD. Even while I was in the hospital, I still tried to get some work done. While I was there, I managed to come up with tomorrow’s drawing and I was actually pretty surprised at what I came up with. I normally don’t draw very well while I’m in public, as it’s kind of hard to really focus on something with hundreds of people around you, or at least it is for me :s.

Also, I finally finished coloring this! The only problem I have with it is I wish I colored her hair differently. I was a little short on time while making this so sorry if it looks a little rushed xD. This almost didn’t go up today due to time constraints :S.
