I was trying to aim for something kind of sparkly and pink looking for this drawing, but I wasn’t planning on making the entire picture pink until I started working on it. I thought it would be interesting to see the finished drawing have different shades of pinks/magenta since I was feeling somewhat girl today. I tried giving the girl in the drawing flesh colored skin in the beginning but it didn’t really clash well with all of the pink :s. To me it didn’t at least.

Anyway, I planned on posting this on February 1st but I got caught up in a bunch of different things/projects so I am posting it today. It’s not colored yet but I do plan on coloring it sometime this week (basically when time permits it!) I wanted the flower and the girl to blend in sort of in this picture. I can’t quite explain where I got the concept from. As always, I try to be original.

I really would like to focus on my blog more these days but now that I am away from home and have many more responsibilities now (rent, bills, work etc.) my blog hasn’t been my top priority for a while…I’m trying to think of ways to balance my blog with my crazy work life xD. I have soooo much I wanna do with this blog in the future, aside from just posting art. I want to start selling some of my artwork very soon. :3

So on to what happened. My server had a HUGE fart a couple of days ago and knocked me offline for half a day, unbeknownst to me. It was extremely grueling to get it back up and running to say the least!

As I stated months ago, I am starting to make art work that is much brighter than my usual work (like the stuff in my web comic.) I almost could imagine a family of bears or a family of raccoon living in a house like this. Now this makes me want to draw an animal family all of a sudden. We’ll see what I come up with tomorrow. xD

Today’s post won’t be very long, it will be just a general art post. Besides the fact that I have been busy this month so far, I am currently taking care of a roach problem (not a very big one but it’s there xD! I’ve been looking up some roach bait recipes and I think I found one that i’d like to stick with. It consists of peach flavored oatmeal and boric acid. It seems to be working :3.

I’ve never had a roach problem before so this is kind of new to me. Thankfully, I’m taking care of it before it gets out of control (which I don’t think it will.) Other than that, I’m just looking forward to the weekend again right now :3.

My new apartment is particularly more cold than back at home. The location is just colder, it’s in a lower elevation than my old place. I’m still trying to manage this cold weather, but like every winter, I tend to handle the cold very badly :s. I’m just a tropical creature by nature!

Now I  know it’s probably like 10 times cooler in other parts of the U.S. (I’m in California) but here on the west coast, we experience drastic weather shifts all throughout the year. In the summer time, it’s burning hot and in the winter, it’s freezing cold! The weather is never ‘just right’ like how they depict our state in movies. It makes me mad sometimes because tourists come here with the perception that California is a “sunny state” all year around, when that’s definitely not the case at all.

On a side note, be sure to check out the resources page sometime to find the new tutorials I’ve posted up lately. I’ve been trying to add 1 new tutorial everyday, i’m still on my roll. :3

So it’s the first week of December, and I must admit that i’m a little scared. This December is going to be a little different for me because a.) I’m away from home b.) I have to pay all the bills now and c.)I spend the most money during December. I almost despise this month x.x.

Christmas has become a purely materialistic season in my opinion. Kids already know what they’re getting for Christmas for crying out loud! When I was growing up, the fun part of Christmas was the mystery behind the gifts! We were playing with kids toys and such and now, 10 year olds are in to smartphones and ipads. Pfft! Anyway…

Next week is going to be extremely busy for me. Just a lot of things happening then, especially over the weekend. I’m trying to get in some buffer art work to have for then in case I’m away from my computer for a while.

In other news, I finally completed the Fantasy Girl illustration I started a few days ago. I wanted to finish it yesterday but a few interruptions prevented me from finishing it. :s Also, it’s a more detailed piece than some of my regular stuff so it took a little longer to finish. I don’t have the time I used to have unfortunately, but i’m still making an effort to remain active on my blog :3. If I can’t post something everyday, it will be ALMOST every day at the least xD.
