I 365 Art is officially 90 days old! Yay!

Today’s drawing is not brand new but it’s still holding up pretty well after all this time. This is a world map that I drew for a failed comic I started working on last year called Purgatory X. I was super excited about it but I just didn’t have the time back then. Maybe in the future when I am finished with school, I can reintroduce Purgatory X again and actually finish it this time.

I stumbled upon this piece yesterday while I was looking through some of my old work. I remember really putting a lot of effort in to this thing and I feel that it deserves a little more credit. I tried to make this map look like the ones in those fantasy mmo games. I got my inspiration from the Final Fantasy XI and World of Warcraft maps.

This entire project was all thought up during my stay in San Francisco last year. It sort of just came to me. Oh well. Maybe I can resurrect it from the graveyard later down the road :p.

My sister Danielle McRae played the voice of Painwheel, one of the main fighting characters in the Skull Girls game. She is also one of my personal favorites, she just looks the coolest in my opinion xD. That and she has some interesting character development as well.

I’m not really sure if I mentioned this on the blog before or not, but Danielle McRae is a pretty well known voice actor these days. She’s worked on various different video games, shows and audio books  including World of Warcraft, League of Legends, Carmen Sandiego, Drow Tales and many, many more.

A little bit about today’s drawing. It is of course a fan art of Painwheel that I started on around midnight and completed by 3 a.m. It was created digitally and entirely in Photoshop. This is a realistic drawing approach to the character. If you haven’t seen the game yet, the characters are drawn in somewhat of a cartoon style. I thought i’d apply my own style to this :3.

Anyway, be sure to check out the brand new game Skull Girls. It’s scheduled to be released sometime today on the PS3 :D!
