Future-like desert scene

As you guys might have seen already, this is the colored version of the previous drawing I posted up a couple days ago. I added color as well as some mountains off in the distance in this version, I thought the earlier sketch was a little bland.

And of course I included bold/rich colors as well. I really enjoyed creating the clothing for Orn in this image, I just went with whatever I thought liked nice for her outfit. Since she’s a rogue, I didn’t want to give her too heavy of clothing and I wanted it to be tight fitting (for convenience).

I will be posting 4-5 days in a row for the next few days and will try to have a line up of art ready next week for when I’m at Anime Expo as well. I’ve suddenly gotten a lot of inspiration for art lately and I’d like to post everything i’ve been making to the blog as often as possible. For now, toodles!

Today, I decided to draw this picture of a clam with a giant pearl inside of it. I’ve always had a bit of an affinity for shiny objects (like pearls). I’ve never actually seen a pearl lodged in a clam in person before, and although their pretty, I can’t help but think how weird it is that we like pearls so much.

Pearls are just big balls of calcium carbonate formed from sand. I guess it’s all about the beauty and appearance of the pearl. But man, that’s weird xD. Sorry for the random rant on pearls but I just had to get that out. It’s been bugging me for a while now :p.

I’ve been doing some more writing lately as well. I’m actually taking the time to write out the rest of the script my web series as well. I’ve had to freehand write several times because I didn’t have the time to write up anything for all the new pages I made. I somehow have a ton of time this weekend, no idea how that happened :s.

This is actually a preexisting character from my ongoing web series that I am still somewhat developing. I’m always a little bit unsure of what I want her to look like in the story. I’ve just been having some trouble really finalizing her design is all xD. The only thing I’m really sure of at the end of the day is that I’d like to incorporate both punk/tribal styles. I gave her a ton of tattoos on various parts of her body (arm, head, legs etc.) as well.

I admit that I made her look a little bit more masculine than I intended to. Don’t get me wrong. I wanted her to be bit androgynous in appearance and a bit “tomboyish” by nature, but I think I made her jaw line a bit too strong in the black and white sketches. I’ll probably keep her looking this way until further notice since I like it for the most part.

These were originally going to be just a black and white sketches in the beginning, since I was just brainstorming when I made these. But you know me xD. I LOVE color. I like at least some color in my drawings. Come to think of it, I think I wanna start drawing more of these sporadic character sheets in the future. I’ve got a bunch of characters in my mind, existent and non-existent, that I wanna get down on paper eventually. :]
