As you see, I think from now on, I’m gonna start posting my blog titles differently instead of just giving them labels of a drawing. I’ll start putting the name of the drawing as a caption underneath instead.

Today, I want to talk about a more serious topic. In today’s post, I wanted to bring light to a situation that came to mind recently. To be specific, it’s about criticism. I don’t mean the kind of criticism that you get from some random troller who just wants to bring you down. I’m talking about criticism from other artists. Sure, sometimes advice from another artist is good. It’s good to learn new things. I’m fine with that :D!

While I was growing up, I was always told that every artist was their own biggest critic. As I grew up however, I’ve been learning quickly that this isn’t always the case. You could be completely proud of something that you drew and another artist can come along and find a million faults with in a matter of only a few seconds! Do you think this is really necessary for someone to do?

Now I’m alright with constructive criticism that is directed at how the artist could have done something differently, this is totally fine. What I don’t like is when another artist flat out tells you that you need to change your style completely and to just use a different method of drawing altogether. What gives anyone the right to demand this?

I think that a request like this is totally inappropriate and uncalled for. I believe that everyone’s art style is unique and special in some way, and that no one has the right to demand that someone change their own style to specifically suit their needs. That’s what makes art so great! What kind of a world would we be living in if everyone’s art looked the same?

That’s just my take on the issue. Art is an expression of one’s thoughts and emotions. If you are able to draw something based on thought alone, then that is amazing in and of itself.

Since I won’t be around until Saturday night, I decided to pre-draw today’s drawing and tomorrow’s drawing so I won’t have to worry them xD. I hope you guys like the art work I made for the two days and I will try to reply back to comments when I return on Saturday ^^.

This drawing was a really simple one that took very little effort. I drew it last night and since I was tired, I didn’t feel like taking the time to create something extravagant. It barely took me about an hour and half to draw and color this and the most difficult part about it was the hair. I was too tired to draw in each and every strand so I sort of just half assed it a little xD. Just wanted to get the job done.

Not sure where I got the inspiration from. I was looking through pictures of princesses and I liked how a girl was posing so I tried to make a drawing with a similar pose with her hair blowing in the wind. Like I said, not much thought compared to what I’m used to!

I’m really excited about the weekend! Going to hang out with my boyfriend and go to the beach on Saturday. I’m really looking forward to taking a break since this week has been one of the busiest I have seen in a long time! So I’m looking forward to cooling my heels for once xD. Surprisingly, I still had time to produce art work this week regardless of trying to adjust to this new schedule.

Today’s drawing is centered around a caterpillar walking across a branch. When I was finished drawing this last night, I began coloring it immediately. When I initially got to coloring the body in Photoshop, it closely  resembled a watermelon. To make it look less like a watermelon with the hot pink and green, I added some yellow dots on the body as well.

This whole drawing only took about 2 hours to make, including the time to color it in. I got some references for drawing this by looking at various photographs of caterpillars and I decided to make a caterpillar with these funky colors xD.

As a side note, I also made an easy tutorial of how to draw an ice cream cone. I’m working on a little goal for myself to start making more tutorials and posting them to the blog more often. Thanks everyone for taking the time to visit this blog everyday. I really enjoy doing what I do, which is drawing, and I’m very pleased to know that my art work is being discovered. I will continue to draw masterpieces for you all every single day! There are very few things that I’ve stuck to for the long term. I hope that I can keep this up for a long time.

About this drawing. I wanted to make something cute and girly and colorful! I also wanted to go for a Valentine’s day theme as well. It’s like one of those characters from those cute, girly RPG games xD. I haven’t given her a name but I just might in the future.

This took about 1 1/2 hours to draw and another hour and a half to color this in photoshop. I used a billion different layers just to achieve the appearance I was looking for. I wanted to make the art colorful and bright as you can see. I think I had the most trouble coloring her hair and her dress. The colors on both kept looking funky so I had to keep adjusting them xD.

Not really sure what gave me the inspiration to draw this considering I’ve been stressing a little so far this month. I guess I just wanted to break out of my shell and create something totally different! Hope you like it.

By the way, I just discovered this website called Wet Canvas last night. It’s really strange that I never heard of it considering I’ve been out and about in the art world for quite some time now. It is a really tight-nit community of artists with a passion for art and creativity. This place quickly drew my eye and I have begun mingling in the community already! There are a lot of active users in the forums and it just seems like a very hopeful community! ^^

Jake doesn’t attempt to get in her way and when he does by accident, he ends up treating her like a queen until he can get away xD. Poor Jake T~T. She does love Jake a lot, she can just be very intimidating at times. Just try not to get on her bad side xD.

Other than the post today, I’m gonna start preparing for the first day of class tomorrow. I hope everything goes well tomorrow!

In other news, I’m going to be updating the Tutorials section with new tutorials pretty soon. I’ve got a couple that are finished already, they just need to be posted. I hope my tutorials come in handy! They were a lot of fun to make and I hope that you guys enjoy them when they are up. I also hope to have some things to put in the resource section soon as well.

So about the art work…I really don’t know what inspired me to draw this actually. It was half past midnight when I started making this and all I could think about was getting some sleep x.x. I do know that the cat eyes in the sky came from petting my cat in hopes of staying awake x.x. Blah! I don’t have a lot to say about this besides that it was pretty much a random doodle that sort of turned in to this! xD

The little pond in front of the tree…I don’t know why I put that there. Whenever I think of big, ginormous trees I think of a water source nearby. Also, I thought it was a little empty with just the tree in the picture. One of my biggest pet peeves is a bare naked drawing. This explains why I rarely ever make drawings without backgrounds. It just gets on my nerves a little xD!

Thankfully, I have to manually approve every message I get (Thankyou WordPress!) so I never allow for spam to be published which is great! I would be pretty sad if spammers took over my blog with their silly messages. I won’t allow it! If you don’t have a general interest in art, then you should not be here. Period. I can tell the difference between a spam robot and a human being, thank you very much! 😀

So about this drawing. I was reminiscing on final fantasy 10 (which by the way, was not my favorite one of the bunch) and I thought about the monster Khimaira! So I decided to draw up my very own version of Chimera. What I noticed with all the available pictures out there of the creature is that every single interpretation of it was different. Sometimes, she had the face of a lion, the horns and legs of a goat and wings of a giant dragon. And other times, she had the body of a lion with a goat and a serpent stuck to the side and a snake’s head at the end of the tail. I believe the latter version to be the more accurate as far as I know :o…

In other news, It’s going to be February tomorrow! Which means I can start adding Valentine’s day themed-fantasy-inspired art. I can’t wait for it to begin ^^.

One thing that I’ve begun to notice since I began posting art on this blog is that my style seems to be evolving in to more of an anime-style. This isn’t done on purpose, I guess I’ve just had a lot of anime inspiration lately, oddly enough. I haven’t touched a single anime or video game in a few weeks so I have no idea xD.

In other news, I’m still developing this blog and its categories. I’ve added a Link section for anyone who is interested in linking back to I 365 Art. Anyone who is interested in purchasing art or buying a commission. This blog is still very new but I’m surprised that people are finding it already. I always get this thought in my head about how lost I would be if my drawing hand all of a sudden went out or something…It’s like, what would I do for a living after that? If I lost most of my vital limbs, I think I’d be okay with that. But my right atm? Not so much x.x…I’d end up trying to draw with my feet or something :S. Lol, anyway….

Today’s drawing is somewhat ordinary compared to my other works ( or at least I think so) The background is pretty plain and simple looking in my opinion. I don’t feel like a drawing is full unless there’s creatures flying around in the background or a bunch of flowers and animals sticking out of the character’s body or something. But since she’s in a brightly lit meadow, I decided to color her hair in like a rainbow. Her hair represents a rainbow I guess.

The entire process of creating this piece had to have taken no longer than an hour tops. It was a quick one compared to a few of my past drawings on this blog. Since I was able to finish this one up pretty quickly, I was able to create a few buffers today as well. I could really use the buffers because there’s bound to be days that I won’t even want to get out of bed, let alone draw T.T.
