Anyway, I’m still working on some more simple drawing tutorials to provide on the blog freely. I still have a few that I need to add to the resources page once I get around to doing so. Sorry that this post had to be so short. I’ll try to have something more interesting up on the blog tomorrow besides just this table sketch. :]

Today’s piece is probably one of the first illustrations that I actually put some real time and effort in to in a long while. I was writing a tutorial for drawing a mushroom and I decided to expand the drawing a bit and add a night forest in the background. In the illustration, I also added little glow bug-like creatures around the mushroom to give it a mystical look.

Although the drawing itself is somewhat simple, I am pretty happy with it overall :3! I’m glad that I can start working on things again at least. 🙂

I like Artrage a lot because the tools are more for a painting style. I’m still learning things from it, I think it may become my new favorite program of choice pretty soon :3. I had heard good things about Artrage in the past and now, I can certainly see why I have. :3

So anyway, I spent about 30 minutes working on this. It’s a quick one if you didn’t notice. Aside from school, I have become addicted to a game on Facebook called The Sims Social. I know I don’t really have time for it in my current schedule but it’s become somewhat addicting to me. It’s just too damn fun xD.

Right now, I’m building a bunch of stuff for my homes in the game. When I was first introduced to The Sims Social, I thought it looked silly and uninteresting. But boy was I wrong! Now, I have to start curbing how often I play the game :s.

All I did was add a wooden table and a dark background to the original drawing. I wasn’t sitting well with just a blank background xD, heheh! I decided that I wanted to turn a simple painting of a tomato in to something more! No really, I actually did this because I didn’t have time to work on some of my bigger illustrations :s. Adding a the round table and black background barely took like 15 minutes xD!

Not sure if I mentioned this yet or not, but I have a new tutorial up! It is based off of the genie lamp sketch  I made a while back. I found some time a few days ago to finally begin painting it, so I ended up making a step by step tutorial around it :3. Be sure to check that out guys if that’s something you’re interested! I’m starting to spend a little more time on my drawings these days and I’ve been focusing more specifically on details. I am constantly learning new things every single day and I hope it’s showing ^^;.

Also, I won’t be posting any more tutorials until I return next week. There are quite a few up right now so don’t hesitate to check the tutorials that are already up :).

So yea. Last night, I celebrated my sister’s birthday. She turned 30 years old and she doesn’t look a day over 15! So we basically celebrated by going out to lunch, heading off to get ice cream and other treats and we bought some $2 DVDs from the Block Buster that was closing up by our house. I guess despite the fact that she is now 30 and I am on my way to 30 in a few years, we just can’t lose the eternal child that’s inside of us. After all, you are as old as you feel!

Anyway, I finished coloring the drawing from yesterday. The hair was the biggest challenge here, but damn it was a lot of fun! I felt the need to give the girl some crazy, bright red hair. Believe it or not, it was going to be brown in the beginning. I tried out some new color shading techniques on the hair and I think they came out alright! Off in the distance in this illustration are some futuristic skyscrapers.

This entire painting took about 3 hours. I took a couple of breaks in between or else I might have been done sooner. Me and my A.D.D. xD!

So serious question for you guys: what kind of music do you listen to while draw? And if you don’t draw, what kind of music do you listen to while participating in other constructive activities that you do? I don’t think I’ve mentioned this before, but I listen to a lot of music while I draw. I can’t quite pin point a specific genre, as my musical library ranges from punk rock to RnB.

I of course painted the knight’s armor a little darker than I originally intended to. I thought that a more darker looking knight would look more intimidating and cooler looking. The digital painting process took around 2 1/2 hours because I couldn’t make up my mind xD! I might actually remake the background and draw in a castle scenery in the future instead. I only had a day to draw this so that’s why I didn’t go all out on the background. This isn’t really the best but I figure it’s practice xD.

Also, I’ve been thinking. You know how sometimes I make a sketch of something and don’t post the finished artwork until the next day? Would the finished product still be considered a daily drawing? I thought that instead of making a drawing everyday, sometimes I could just post the progress of one drawing within the course of 2 days. Not only does it give you guys an insight on how I colored my art drawings but it also gives me a little break from the drawing board I guess.

I’m gonna be away for a whole week at the end of the month, so I guess I better start figuring out how I’m going to make enough posts/drawings for 7 days, hehe! Why do I always put myself in a fix like this?

Also, I included a remake of a previous tutorial I created in the past. It’s a tutorial on how to draw an eye. It’s a pretty easy one and if you’re interested, feel free to take a look at it as well as some of the other tutorials. Take care guys!

Anyway, today’s painting illustrates a luxurious setting. It consists of a giant fruit goblet filled with grapes, oranges, peaches, apples and bananas. On the right side, I drew in a glass and bottle of champagne side by side. I was really aiming for the details with this painting so it took a lot longer than I wanted it to. Nonetheless, I am pretty satisfied with the results. I think it’s a slight improvement since I first started posting things to this blog.

I’m not really aiming for a specific style or anything, I just want to focus on making artwork that I am visually satisfied. I still would like to maintain my own individual art style, just wouldn’t mind improving it along the way ^^!

In other news, I’ve got a new tutorial up today! It’s the remake of how to draw a face. I originally made a version of this on hubpages some time ago, but I didn’t include the digital painting steps back then. Also as I said in the past, I would like to start hosting my own tutorials from my own server. I’ve noticed a pretty huge increase in traffic since I started hosting my own how to draw tutorials which is great!

The documentary was about an hour and 30 minutes, and I finished this 45 minutes later. I guess it’s safe to say that the entire coloring process for this lasted about 3 hours max. I discovered a different painting technique in Photoshop a few days ago that I applied to this picture. I really like how it came out in this pic! If I would have done things the old way, I wouldn’t have been satisfied with this at all xD! What I did with the skin here was I used the brush tool as I always do, and then I used a mix of some of the other tools such as smudge and blur. What I was previously doing in my paintings was blur and Gaussian blur, which compared to this, makes a pretty ugly effect in the drawing now that I think about it! lol!

I think it’s that time again where I look back at my old work and shudder in horror x.x. This happens to me every few years or so and I think I’m having that moment right now xD! Good thing it happened early on in the year and not later 😡 heheheh!

At the moment, I’m trying to paint my drawings like I would on a canvas, so maybe that’s why my drawings have improved some since I first started this blog ^^ Yay! The way I see it is that an artist is never too old or too seasoned to learn something new. I’m very open to improving my art skills along the way right now. I want to eventually master Photoshop in the future xD I know I have a long way to go but it’s something that needs to be done since I love the program so much. xD

In other news, I have updated the prints section today with new products! Also this week, I will try to put up another store front with even more items (shirts, buttons, cards you name it ^^.) This week is proving to be very busy so hopefully I’ll find the time to do that.

Also, I am still adding more tutorials to the resources page as well. As I said a few posts back, I am compiling a list of self hosted tutorials. :3
