I drew an image of a purple haired individual wearing a majestic, royal earring/charm. I had a hard time making the earring shimmer since I was in a rush (had to catch the train, hehe) so this was the best I could do with the effects. I do like how the blue earring and purple hair look beside one another. I was going for a “mermaid” like appearance, if that makes any sense…:p

Also on a side not, the reason why I wasn’t able to update the blog yesterday was because I was attending Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo. I had a pretty fun time there, I cosplayed with my boyfriend, took a few pics, met up with other fellow cosplayers, went through the exhibit hall and saw some old super hero actors. Some said the convention wasn’t all that great this year because of the long lines to get in and I also heard that the staff wasn’t all that great either. But on a personal note, I had quite a bit of fun. My feet did get tired after a while but that tends to happen whenever i’m on my feet for long.

I do plan on adding the Comikaze pictures as well as a bunch of my old cosplay stuff to the cosplay gallery eventually. But for now, I’m sorting through all of my pics and deciding which ones I want to expose to the world.

I think this is honestly one of the prettiest quick pieces of art I’ve posted on this blog. I really like how her hair came out and the brown of her skin as well. This entire picture probably took about an hour or so to make. But since I didn’t work on it non stop, it took a day and a half to post the finished version up to the blog. I had to put this off some in order to take care of more important things (ie gigs and household chores). Nonetheless though, I kinda like how this turned out :3.

I wanted the character to look like she was really out in the wild or in a rain forest. I felt that the purple skies was a nice contrast with the olive green bush.

I was originally going to give her blonde hair but I didn’t think that it set the mood well enough once I tried it. So I colored her hair a deep blue, which I think personally worked well. In my opinion, the style that I made this drawing in looks somewhat anime-like. It’s probably because of the blue hair xD!

Anyway, I have been finding myself having to have to draw a lot of anime lately. I don’t normally draw anime characters often. I usually like to blend anime with western style in my art work  :3. Kinda like how the Final Fantasy characters are drawn. Today, I decided to draw just straight anime! I don’t think I’m that good at drawing just straight anime characters but practice makes improvement I suppose.

I had to draw an anime character for a customer a few days ago which was fun. I also drew another anime character for part of my boyfriend’s final project. I’m normally not accustomed to drawing anime that often but I’ll do it if I have to. My anime characters may have a bit of a ‘Western twang’ to them though :p.

Now that i’m back in to the swing of my busy life, I have a ton of catching up to do on this blog xD. Bummer! Thankfully, my UTI is pretty much gone ^^! I’ll have to not drink so much soda for a while x.x.

Other than these changes, that’s pretty much it for now. I don’t want to change the site up too quickly or too dramatically xD.

So for today, I decided to start on a picture of an original character, a  singer/songstress that came out of the top of my head. I have a lot of friends who are in the whole Lolita scene these days, so I felt kind of inspired to draw this because of them ^^;! I’m not so much a lolita fashion person, but I do like some of the pretty lolita dresses I see from time to time.

I first started seeing a ton of girls dressed in Lolita garb when I started going to anime conventions a couple years ago. I first started hearing about the genre back when a Jrock group called Malice Mizer began to grow popular in the states back in the 90s’. A guy in the group named Mana was the one who sort of introduced me to it. He used to dress up as a Lolita and was easily able to pass off  as a woman, until he started speaking of course! xD

Anyway, I didn’t have enough time to paint this in so I’ll most likely finish this up probably later tonight! This is going to have a ton more colors and detail than the recent ones I’ve been posting so I will need more time. Will have the finished painting by tomorrow!

I think the one thing I can’t stand the most in life is wasting time. I always like to make the most of my time everyday and 9/10 times, you will never catch me staring mindlessly at a wall or something like that xD. I admit to taking a lot of breaks but I still try to be productive even during break time (If that makes any sense…Dx). I will make it an effort to wake up earlier tomorrow than I did today :).

I did manage to finish coloring this though, which is another accomplishment for me. What gave me the idea to create this drawing was when I was thinking of my great grandmother yesterday. In the times that she was alive, she spent the majority of her life as a voodoo priestess. She actually used to run a voodoo shop. Strange I know, but it’s true :o…

One thing that I’ve begun to notice since I began posting art on this blog is that my style seems to be evolving in to more of an anime-style. This isn’t done on purpose, I guess I’ve just had a lot of anime inspiration lately, oddly enough. I haven’t touched a single anime or video game in a few weeks so I have no idea xD.

In other news, I’m still developing this blog and its categories. I’ve added a Link section for anyone who is interested in linking back to I 365 Art.
